Short-Term Accommodation
A change of scene with full support — perfect for respite or a getaway.
About this service
Ruhil Care recognises the difficulties involved in caregiving and the differential challenges specific to disability care. That's why we offer the opportunity for caregivers to take a break from their work and provide a safe, inclusive and accessible environment for their loved ones. Short-Term Accommodation (STA), also known as respite, is your chance for a change of scene with full support included — for a few nights or up to 14 days at a time.
Every plan is shaped around your goals, preferences and routines. Our team works closely with you, your family and your circle of support to make sure the service feels right from day one — and stays that way.

Common questions
What kind of assistance does Ruhil Care provide during Short Term Accommodation?+
Personal care, meals, medication support, day programs, therapeutic supports, transport, social activities and 24/7 supervision — all included as part of your STA stay and tailored to your support plan.
How long is the period of stay in STA?+
Stays range from a single night up to 14 nights at a time, with up to 28 nights per year typically funded under the NDIS. Longer stays can be arranged where your plan allows.
Do you expect any family or informal care while I am at Ruhil Care?+
No — that's the whole point of respite. Our trained team takes over all daily support, so family and informal carers can genuinely rest while you're with us.
Can you help me with my NDIS funding?+
Yes. NDIS usually pays a maximum amount for STA based on your goals. Ruhil Care does not charge above your funded rate, and we'll help you understand what your plan covers before booking.
Are there any benefits to short-term accommodation at Ruhil Care?+
You'll have access to our outdoor kitchen and garden, trampoline and basketball court, disability-friendly gym, and home theatre — plus day programs, therapy sessions and outings, all under one roof.
Can you provide travel assistance for my work or day program?+
Yes — we provide door-to-door transport to and from your usual work, study or day program throughout your stay, so your routine doesn't have to pause.
Is there staff at the centre at all times?+
Yes. Trained support workers are on-site 24/7, including awake overnight staff, so help is always available.
Can I travel to other places during my stay?+
Absolutely. We plan outings to local attractions, parks, cafés and events, and we can also support individual trips you'd like to make during your stay.
