NDIS Life Skills and Development
Build the everyday skills that grow independence.
About this service
Life skills are the lessons we pick up along the way that help us navigate a complicated world filled with demands, expectations, hidden problems and inescapable events. People with disabilities often have unique experiences — they may not have been exposed to the same things or they may have faced different challenges, and as a result they have a unique set of life skills. With funding from the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Ruhil Care provides support services that help you or a loved one live life to the fullest by building the everyday skills that make real independence possible.
Every plan is shaped around your goals, preferences and routines. Our team works closely with you, your family and your circle of support to make sure the service feels right from day one — and stays that way.

What is NDIS Life Skills and Development?+
It is capacity-building support that teaches the practical skills needed to live more independently — cooking, budgeting, transport, routines and self-care.
Why are life skills important for people with disabilities?+
Learning new life skills helps you live more independently and reach your goals — equipping you with tools that make navigating the world easier.
Can I use my NDIS funding for life skills?+
Yes. Life skills coaching is generally funded under Capacity Building — Increased Social & Community Participation or Improved Daily Living.
Where do sessions take place?+
Wherever the skill will be used — your home for cooking, the shops for money handling, the bus stop for travel training.
How long does it take to learn a new skill?+
It depends on the skill and the person. Achieving a goal requires time, coaching, inspiration and support — some routines lock in within weeks, others take a few months.
Do you support children and teens?+
Yes — we work with all ages and tailor the approach for younger participants, including school-to-work transition support.
